Senator says Fed Council works on bill to regulate marketplaces
MOSCOW, Dec 5 (PRIME) -- Russian senators are preparing a bill seeking to regulate work of the marketplaces, Andrei Kutepov, head of the economic committee of the parliament’s upper house Federation Council, said late on Monday.
“We have a limit for the share of retail chains of up to 25%. But it is time we pay attention to other segments. For example, we missed the rise of a market share in transportation and got a monopoly, which is Yandex Taxi,” Kutepov said.
“The market share of marketplaces also grows – they had 4 trillion rubles in 2021, 5.7 trillion rubles in 2022, and we expect 7.4 trillion (rubles) in 2023. At that, the marketplaces must obey the laws of commerce as everyone does. It means the ultimate threshold of a market share, safety of investment, the quality of goods, sanitary regulations, and others.”
Kutepov asked Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko to give an order to analyze the market and involve the relevant ministries and services in work on the document.
